The Tidiest Of The Most Surreals

Graveyards are beautiful at any time of the day while
More beautiful people are enthralled with making love to
One another;
And this is the free sport that no one else cares about,
As I grow fat listening in my little coves at the world
So airing above my throat:
I am like the amphibian ululating for his stewardesses;
And all of this can be trusted,
Because it is just as thoughtless as gambling;
As the fish come gurgling in the lines of their bright-eyed
Nurseries into the open air,
As I have things to tell myself when no one else cares;
And I have been to the lips of mountains,
And I have seen by which passions the highways so encoil,
That the wildernesses are minted:
I have received the frostbitten lips into my ankle,
As I have loved a married woman, who is both strange and
Sincere;
And she is my muse, buying new t-shirts to cover her aching
Breasts to which I wish to afford more children to cause
To leak of life’s milky suckle;
And the world lights up as in a stage of ill-report; and the
Ships melt into their docks, the sailors dreaming of girls and
Mermaids I am sure never existed except for in my bedroom
Under the ceiling fans churning like milkmaids,
Open-breasted and yodeling like Julie Andrews in the coffins
Of the tidiest of the most surreals.

Another Interpretation of Friendship

Never before had I imagined that one day I should have the opportunity to live with so many girls and yet never before had I been confident in myself that I would be able to get along with them harmoniously for four years. The very act of approaching my new dormitory made me frightened and bewildered. With what kind of expression should I face them? Would a single “hi” be proper? Would they accept such a plain girl like me? All the questions haunted my mind. Harboring such a complex and uncertain emotion I pushed the door open.

I was about to greet my new roommates, but suddenly I felt that I had a lump in my throat. They did not appear to have the same preoccupations that I had. They just coped with their own businesses, sorting out their clothes, and making arrangements for their future life. Thus tranquility became the dominant note in the dormitory.

To my surprise, facing such a situation, I did not feel a sense of disappointment. On the contrary, I even felt a little bit happy, since I had been long expecting a tranquil environment. With the elapsing of time, we got to know each other deeper. I was pleased to find that in deep soul we all belonged to the same pattern----reserved as we were, we all set high our horizons and never stopped pursuing our dreams. Somehow I often thought that it was just the arrangement of the fate that brought us together, since we seemed so alike.

However, not long before this kind of harmony was disturbed by my own upset of mind. During that period, because of my working tasks, each day I had to stay out for a long time, unable to communicate and exchange ideas with my roommates. When I was engulfed in the state of confusion and misery caused by the heavy burdens, I found no one to turn to help. What I was concerned about seemed to have nothing to do with them and what they were doing and talking about seemed so far away from me. I often dreamed that they were on top of a hill, overlooking me with eyes filled with incomprehension. While I, standing at the foot of the hill, tried my utmost to reach them, only to be left in despair. How I wished that they could say something even nonsensical to me! How I wished that they could be another type of people with a clear demarcation between what to hate and what to love. However, it was impractical, since they were destined to belong to the group that seemed indifferent to everything. While one incident changed my mind and made me cherish this kind of calm better and more confident in our friendship.

One day when I was leaving the teachers’ office, it was already in deep night. The surroundings were in complete silence and frightening darkness. Even though I was so reluctant to go to that cold world, my feet were out of control and they went directly to my dormitory. At the dormitory gate, I was startled to find that there still existed a little light glimmering in the darkness, so faint but yet so clear. In that setting, it seemed so unique and powerful. Just in the guidance of the light, I went to the room without any obstacles. All of my roommates had been in sound sleep, leaving the world in calm and the rosy light. Unconsciously tears rolled down my cheeks, and those were tears of happiness and gratitude. “Just because someone doesn’t love the way you want them to, doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.” This was a belief that I had borne in mind for a long time, but not until then had I understood the true meaning of it.

Sometimes someone may not know how to show their feelings to you, but just give yourself a few minutes to think over and you will sense the essence beyond this superficial indifference. Since we all like tranquility, both in environment and in our mind, our friendship is bound to be a common one. Neither do we have passionate feelings, nor do we have sharp changes in life, and even anger leaves us away. While in our deep feeling, we are bound together by a kind of invisible power. I am sure that it must be love and care towards the others, from which the healing energy emanates. It is just this kind of power that melts all the misunderstandings and unpleasantness. Thus it makes us think together, laugh together, and even cry together.

Chinese TaiJi Boxing

The Head

Erect the neck naturally so that the head keeps erect upward as if against something on the top.This must be done relaxedly,unstrainedly and naturally.Do not shake the head casually or have it inclined to the left or right..Keep the head right in the middle.Try your best to keep a straight line from the head top to the middle of the hip in all playing movements,with only a few exceptions of forward bending poses out of the 24 postures.

The Body

1. Set the body in an upright ,natural pose.Do not incline the body forward or backward,nor to the right or to the left Do not strafighten up the back or throw out the chest.

2. Note the important role or function of the Waist in directing every movement of playing. Every turn of the body relies on the waist,which determines the overall changes in the movements of the body,the hands and the feet as well.The waist regulates the centre of gravity of the human body or the point of balance in process of playing different 24 postures continually. It is the waist that conducts the movements of the arms and the hands through delivering energy to them in the form of Qi,which means flow of energy inside a human body.

3. Keep the body upright comfortably;avoid the sticking-out of the belly or the hip;do not swing the hip right or left.

The Arms and the Shoulders

1, Keep the shoulders naturally relaxed while playing Taiji boxing all the way through,because any lift of shoulders will let Qi going upward, which is contrary to the principle of storing Qi in DanDian( somewhere in the lower part of the belly).Keep the elbows “sinking”(the joint is bent a bit downward towards the ground)except when the elbows are as high as the shoulders or a bit higher.

2, Every movement of the arms,whether stretching or bent, must be accomplished in curves,not in straight lines. Learn to turn your arms or wrists inwardly or outwardly in slow motion while playing 24 postures.

3, Keep your palms in a natural shape with fingers naturally apart.Avoid stretching them stiffly.

The Legs

1, Whatever the postures or movements, keep the knees bent a little(the knees should not surpass the tip of the toes) so as to sustain the weight of the body in movement,or in other word to keep the balance of gravity while the player shifts the centre of gr avity from one leg to the other.Keep the part between the waist and the thigh relaxed so as to be able to move legs and feet flexibly.

2, Take light and deft steps like a cat trying to catch a mouse.Let the heel touch the ground first, then the full foot,avoiding making any noise.Take steps in such a way that the player obviously feels which foot sustains the weight of the body.Only in this way can the player move his body or position very flexibly and turn in whatever direction deftly as he intends.
